Position Summary:

The Accountant performs accounting, financial, and administrative functions requiring thorough knowledge of general accounting methods, principles, and practices in a manufacturing environment.  The Accountant assists in developing and implementing solutions to daily accounting issues that may arise.  The Accountant assists with administrative duties as required.


  • Assists with accounts receivable, including creating customer billing, statements, collections, recording/applying payments, filing, and processing credit applications.
  • Assists with accounts payable, including entering, creating, and receiving purchase orders in ERP system, prepare vendor invoices, filing, and following up on purchase orders, as needed.
  • May analyze accounting transactions to ensure their proper classification.
  • Adheres to and assist in, internal control requirements.
  • Generates weekly Inventory Cycle Counting reports, print count sheets, and book completed inventory counts.
  • Maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assists in month end close process, including research and preparation of journal entries.
  • Performs assigned account reconciliations including accruals and provisions.
  • Supports the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, and supporting analyses, along with meaningful commentary to explain results/variances to various levels within the organization to ensure timely and efficient financial reporting requirements/deadlines.
  • Assists in the auditing process, may act as audit liaison with the company’s public auditors and any other public audit agency; works with MAI accounting team and external auditors and to address areas of concern.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as requested by supervisor.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • 3+ accounting years’ experience, working in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Detail oriented, self-directed, highly motivated professional with a positive attitude and effective problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, with all levels of employees, interdepartmentally, and external contacts.
  • Strong organizational skills to control, direct, and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong sense of accountability, while also being willing to take ownership of responsibilities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles.
  • Initiative to continuously recommend cost saving strategies and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner, exhibits a positive attitude, sharing information with co-workers as appropriate and works to promote a cooperative, productive teamwork environment.
  • Acts as an expert on the job, makes the most of knowledge and experience and works to learn new duties; assists with training of others; and adapts to changing conditions quickly and easily.
