Maintenance Assistant

Position Summary:

Assists and maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment with minimal downtime.


  • Assists in performing daily assignments relative to the maintenance/repair of industrial production equipment and/or building systems. Such as but not limited to, high velocity mixers, hammer mills, presses, etc.
  • Assists with scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintains waste water program by operating waste water lines, treating waste water, and sending out treated waste water in a fast paced environment
  • Assists with repairing industrial equipment to prevent extended equipment down time.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Operates heavy equipment such as fork trucks, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Performs monthly safety equipment inspections (eyewash, fire extinguishers safety lights, etc.).
  • Follows cGMP and OSHA regulations.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade School Diploma preferred.
  • 0-2 years mechanical experience
  • Ability to operate a fork truck and other vehicles
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time: 8+ hours/day with overtime
  • Ability to work in extreme weather environments including where heat exposure may exceed 90 degrees or drop below freezing
  • Ability to work in elevated heights
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs repetitively and without assistance
  • Uniform requirements of long sleeves/pants
  • Capability of wear a respirator when necessary
  • Ability to work overtime including early start times, evenings, and weekends
  • Must be able to work individually and in a team environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • Capable of working in environments with excessive noise that may be distracting and/or operation of tools and equipment which cause loud noise and vibrations.
  • Ability to climb walk and stoop, bend, reach, hold awkward positions, and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to operate a variety hand and machine power tools of the trade
  • Must be able to effectively communicate
