Maintenance Technician

Job Summary: 

Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment with minimal downtime.


  • Carry out daily assignments relative to the maintenance/repair of industrial production equipment and/or building systems. Such as but not limited to, high velocity mixers, hammer mills, presses, etc.
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts from heavy equipment by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment such as but not limited to, band saws, table saws, milling machines, lathes, etc.
  • Maintains waste water program by operating waste water lines, treating waste water, and sending out treated waste water in a fast paced environment
  • Repairs industrial equipment to prevent extended equipment down time. May work alone or on a team.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Performs disassembly and recommissioning of production equipment following GMP protocol/IP, OP, QP standards.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Works with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment that have the potential of stored energy
  • Operates heavy equipment such as fork trucks, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Follows cGMP and OSHA regulations.
  • Understands and executes Lockout Tagout procedures.
  • Operates fork lift, box truck, and other vehicles to secure and move heavy equipment.
  • Safely work with hazardous chemicals following proper procedures
  • All other duties as assigned by Manager


  • Trade School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years experience maintaining industrial equipment
  • Effectively work within and maintain composure in high pressure/intensity situations where urgency is required such as equipment failure.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to operate a fork truck and other vehicles
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time: 8+ hours/day with overtime
  • Ability to work in extreme weather environments including where heat exposure may exceed 90 degrees or drop below freezing
  • Ability to work in elevated heights
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs repetitively and without assistance
  • Uniform requirements of long sleeves/pants
  • Capability of wear a respirator when necessary
  • Ability to work overtime including early start times, evenings, and weekends
  • Must be able to work individually and in a team environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • Capable of working in environments with excessive noise that may be distracting and/or operation of tools and equipment which cause loud noise and vibrations.
  • Good common sense, logical decision making abilities capable of maintaining a safe working environment while satisfying customer requests in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to climb walk and stoop, bend, reach, hold awkward positions, and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods
  • Capable of working with high voltage electricity
  • Must be able to operate a variety hand and machine power tools of the trade
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with operators, management, and technical support services.
