R&D Chemist

Responsibilities

  • Research and development in cosmetics industry. Uses knowledge to perform product development.
  • Coordinates new products and processes development projects.
  • Evaluates existing products and processes to meet customer requirements.
  • Gathers and analyzes information to prepare status reports for customers and/or management personnel
  • Ensures data is properly and accurately recorded in laboratory notebooks in accordance to industry guidelines and regulations.
  • Prepares bulk samples as required with corresponding paperwork/labeling for testing.
  • Interacts with customers as necessary
  • Performs routine testing/physical characterization; e.g., sample analyses with R&D Instrumentation
  • Keeps equipment functional by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining equipment and supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
  • Regularly reports to R&D Manager on projects progresses, notifies any delay on timelines
  • Maintains awareness of technical developments in the field and of product/process improvements
  • Presents technical information to internal and external groups. Shares scientific information and expertise as required.
  • Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Japanese language skill a plus
  • Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
